The Insignia Pilot is a good flash MP3 player that just barely missed making it into our top five. It has a good feature set, including FM radio, radio recording, album art, expandable memory and text document display. But one of the best features is the Bluetooth technology included in the device that makes it capable of syncing with Bluetooth headphones or other devices.
The Insignia Pilot, plays MP3, WAV, WMA (both protected and unprotected) and OGG music files and even has support for audiobooks from Audible.com. It comes in 4 or 8GB versions that can hold thousands of songs and several hours of video.
The screen size is good, at 2.4 inches its one of the larger ones, and the resolution displays videos and pictures well. Battery life is also good with 25 hours of audio playback and 10 hours of video playback.
The Pilot is a good choice for a flash MP3 player because it still has great options and is actually cheaper than many other brands. Ultimately, it just missed being in the top five because it doesn’t offer much in the way of customization and accessories, it only plays MP4 and WMV videos and the tech support is fairly cumbersome and circuitous.
