Despite the fact that MEIZU isn’t very well known here in the U.S., they have come out with an MP3 player that can stand up to the most popular brands. That’s why the MEIZU Mini Player was rated number five on our list of the best flash MP3 players on the market.
The MEIZU Mini Player offers a great variety of features that make it useful for more than just listening to music. It plays videos, displays pictures and has an FM radio tuner along with a number of other great features. The screen is fairly large, with good resolution so videos and pictures look clean.
The MEIZU Mini Player comes in a 2, 4 or 8GB models. The Mini Player is just that: mini. It’s not the smallest player out there, but it packs a lot into such a small space. It only missed the top three slots because it doesn’t support protected music and uses uncommon video formats.
Besides good music and video storage capabilities, the MEIZU Mini Player includes a lot of other features. There is an FM radio with an incredible 50 presets, even though most people probably don’t have that many favorite radio stations. The Mini Player also lets you view text documents and do voice recordings. One of the glaring holes in the MEIZU Mini Player is that it lacks the ability to display album art, something that has become fairly standard in the MP3 player industry.
The interface has buttons for navigation that are easy to use and can scroll through long lists with the touch strip that is reminiscent of other major MP3 players. The MEIZU Mini Player can also be used as a storage device for personal files.
And the Mini Player delivers all the extras that people enjoy in an MP3 player like a clock, calendar, sleep timer and stopwatch functions; it even has games. The music compatibility for the Mini Player is fairly standard. It supports MP3, WMV, WAV and OGG. It does not support protected music.
The MEIZU Mini Player can display images in several different formats, including JPEG, BMP and GIF. Videos can play in AVI or XviD formats.
The Mini Player looks good and the 2.4 inch screen seems to dominate the player, making the screen look even bigger than it is. The resolution is good and the screen displays images and video in landscape/widescreen format.
The battery life is only average, with a rated 20 hour audio playback time and a six hour playback for video. The Mini Player has good support with phone and email lines for users, and the website has manuals, FAQs and firmware upgrades.
The MEIZU Mini Player is a great flash MP3 player that offers a lot of features. It’s not a good choice if you only use protected music, but it’s still an MP3 player that does its job well.
