The Sandisk Sansa View is a great flash MP3 player that is able to combine features and performance into an excellent portable player, earning it the “TopTenReviews Bronze Award.”
Although the Sansa View is a little big for a flash MP3 player, its value of storage verses price makes it an excellent choice. The Sansa View only comes in 8 and 16 GB sizes, but the real advantage is that the 8GB version costs the same as a 4 GB player in most other brands. And with a slot for expandable memory, the storage space on the Sansa View could potentially be as big as 24 GB.
The large storage space makes the Sansa View perfect for people who like to watch a lot of videos on their MP3 player. And the screen is fairly large too. Add this to a list of other features and the Sansa View quickly rises to the top tiers of the flash MP3 category. With a few more features the Sansa View would have easily made the number one slot.
Besides the exceptional amount of storage for the price, the SanDisk Sansa View also sports some great features. It displays album art for songs, plays FM radio and has a user-definable EQ. Users can also get tunes from outside sources with a voice recorder and line-in recorder built-in. The screen size and resolution are definitely up to the challenge of playing video, and the sound quality is good too.
Another great feature of the Sansa View is that it is compatible with both Mac and Windows platforms. Unfortunately, the Sansa View does skimp on some of the extras like a calendar and sleep timer functions. While they aren’t essential, things like these are nice to have. The Sansa View can play a variety of music formats, including MP3, protected and unprotected WMA and WAV files. But the manufacturer also made it go the extra mile by making it compatible with AAC files. Audiobooks from Audible.com are also supported.
The SanDisk Sansa View only displays JPEG photos, but its video compatibility is much more diverse. It can play MP4, MOV, AVI, ASF and DAT files, but, inexplicably, it cannot play WMV.
Even though the SanDisk Sansa View is physically large for a flash MP3 player, it also has a fairly large screen and a great battery life. This player is rated at 35 hours of audio playback and 7 hours of video playback.
Tech support for the Sansa View is available through phone and email. The manufacturer’s website also has FAQs, manuals, product details and firmware updates.
The SanDisk Sansa View gets great marks for its features, music compatibility and its excellent storage to price ratio. It’s missing a few extra features, but it’s still worth the price.
